A Line of Inheritance
My last grandparent passed away February 13, 2021. It was my Granny. Billie Inez Brown. My mom’s mom. She was feisty and a fashionista especially when it came to lipstick and painted fingernails. She didn’t like not having one without the other. Any time I was with her the topic was always about what I was doing in my store, The Urban Cottage. She wanted to know how I had it decorated and what I had ordered in merchandise. She also loved it when I brought her jewelry from market. She had a lot of questions. She wanted to make sure I “had it right”. Lol She use to sell jewelry herself in a gas station in east Texas. Rings…she LOVED rings. She was bold just like the colors she liked wearing. Purple was one of her favorites.
She loved on people through her cooking for many years and was a great homemaker. I learned how to perfect my homemade gravy through her and my mom. Making homemade gravy is an art. Did you know that? Just like homemade banana pudding which I have still not mastered. There is so much I inherited from her and fashion was just a small part of it. She made me laugh. I will miss her deeply. Time moves fast and if anything I am thankful for all she taught me and the times I had with her to asked questions about my inheritance. Rest well Granny. Thank you for loving me. Alicia
